The Board of Management welcome applications for the position of part-time caretaker at Scoil Mhuire Moynalty. The hours will average 5hrs p/week or 20hrs p/month on a flexible basis.
The successful candidate will have:
• experience in general maintenance and ground keeping skills.
• a good understanding of caretaking duties.
• very good DIY skills; painting, plumbing, basic electrical works.
• an ability to work independently and show initiative.
• an understanding of the importance of confidentially and compliance with school Child Protection Safeguarding Policy.
Some of the responsibilities of the role include:
• general upkeep of the school by ensuring that the school facilities/rooms/grounds and play areas are maintained to a high standard so as to be a safe place for children and staff all year round.
• ensure that the inside of the school, classrooms, offices, kitchen, staffroom, corridors, toilet blocks & social spaces are well maintained.
• ensure that furniture, equipment and fittings are maintained to a high standard.
• upkeep of paintwork.
• health and safety responsibilities
• maintenance of boiler / pellet store & outside storage areas
• identify tasks /plan larger maintenance projects with the Principal / BoM
• keyholder outside of school times.
The successful candidate should hold a full driving licence and will be required to work outside the normal school opening hours to safely provide maintenance and be available to respond to alarm activations occasionally.
This role is one of trust and responsibility requiring the successful candidate to be technically competent, hardworking and practical.
They must be capable of working on their own initiative and create well developed maintenance systems.
The successful candidate must be a good communicator with adults and children, professional, confidential and must understand how their role is crucial to providing a physical environment that nurtures and encourages student learning.
The role requires the person to be flexible in their hours of work and be required to work outside of normal hours to safely provide maintenance and to make facilities available.
The position is subject to a 6 month probation period.
The position is subject to Garda vetting and occupational health screening by Medmark.
