SN Molaise (known locally as Knock National School) is a rural co-educational primary school, which caters for pupils from junior infants to sixth class.
Knock NS is a Catholic school. The school’s Patron is Bishop Denis Nulty, Kildare & Leighlin Diocese. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to lead and strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school and must have a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education. A copy of this qualification must accompany all applications.

The successful candidate also needs to have the ability and motivation to assist the Principal in continuing to lead the school as an integral part of the local community.
Our school strives to create an inclusive, friendly and secure environment where initiative, creativity and self-confidence are encouraged and nurtured and where social and civic values are promoted.
Including the Principal Teacher, Staffing consists of three mainstream teachers, one special education teacher, one special needs assistant, a part time secretary and a part time cleaner.
Knock NS is a DEIS Rural school.
The eligibility criteria and essential roles and responsibilities of the post of Deputy Principal are determined by the four domains of Leadership & Management as set out in Chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019.
A copy of Route 1 Primary registration with the Teaching Council must accompany all applications.

In line with the above domains and working closely with the Principal, the duties attached to the role include:
• Full time teaching
• whole school curricular development,
• policy development,
• day-to-day management of resources and personnel and
• long-term strategic planning for the future development of the school.

The following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable:
• A commitment to/evidence of continuing and relevant professional development, particularly in the area of school leadership
• Knowledge of DEIS programmes
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
• Experience of teaching a range of classes
• A comprehension of, and the ability to support, the embedding of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment.
• A keen interest in promoting physical activity, sport and pupil wellbeing.
• A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate and develop leadership capacity and empower others.
• An ability to work collaboratively with all staff members, Board of Management and the wider school community.
• Proficient communication and very good interpersonal skills.
