Convent of Mercy primary school (known locally as Kennedy Park School) is an urban, co-educational primary school operating under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ferns. The school caters for pupils from junior infants to sixth class. The school promotes a happy, safe and friendly learning environment for all its pupils. Staffing includes seventeen mainstream teachers, seven special education teachers (SET), a temporary EAL teacher and two part-time SETs, both of whom are based in another school. There are 424 pupils currently enrolled in the school. Kennedy Park School is a DEIS band 2 school.
It is the policy of Kennedy Park school to foster self-esteem, promote high standards and expectations and to recognise and reward effort. Uniqueness and differences are valued, initiative and creativity are encouraged and social and civic values promoted.

Roles and Responsibilities for this Principal post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in circular 0044/2019
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.

The following skills, knowledge, experience and competencies are desirable:
A knowledge of and commitment to supporting the Catholic Ethos of the school.
A Knowledge of DEIS schools
Proficient communication and inter-personal skills and a proven capacity in successfully leading and managing school teams.
Evidence of and commitment to ongoing Professional Development.

Appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening,
satisfactory references, current and continuing Teaching Council Registration.
