Job Title: BA and Graduate Diploma in Physical Education Tutor
Portobello Institute has committed to providing excellence in accessible, practitioner-focused education and qualification. We are seeking a practitioner with academic knowledge and expertise to join our staff as a Tutor on our BA Physical Education and Graduate Diploma in Physical Education programmes.
The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching in physical education, a strong knowledge of contemporary developments in physical education in Ireland, as well as knowledge of and commitment to research informed practice. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Sports Department and undertake teaching, learner support and e-learning delivery on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These programmes are delivered on both a full time (weekday) and blended basis (weekends), with opportunities for tutors available across both formats.

Principal Duties
Teaching duties are assigned by the College Director and Programme Manager.
The duties will include:
- Teaching and assessing students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. This will include lecturing, tutoring, leading practical learning activities, and setting, supervising and grading assessments
- Providing online support to learners using the E-Learning portal provided;
- Weekly moderation and update of E-Learning Portal and Discussion boards.
- Responsiveness to students email queries relating to your modules
- Provision of formative feedback to students to support high quality teaching and learning
- Contributing as required, to the assurance and enhancement of teaching quality
- Developing, enhancing and reviewing the content of your modules
- Maintaining and enhancing the collaborative partnership with Portobello Institute’s accrediting University Partner
- Undertaking academic quality standards review;
- Attending and serving on committees as appropriate;
The ideal candidate will preferably have:
· Physical Education teaching experience in an Irish school setting
· Registration with the Teaching Council
· Knowledge and expertise relating to physical education syllabus and curricula in Ireland (primary or secondary)
· Experience of facilitating initial teacher education/ professional development
· A relevant postgraduate qualification e.g. Masters or PhD in physical education or related fields
Remuneration:
Payment done on a block module basis, not hourly.
