- Knowledge of the practicalities of running a special class for pupils with social, behavioural and communication difficulties arising from an autism diagnosis.
- a dedication to the promotion of inclusion and reverse inclusion where possible.
- Knowledge of TEACCH, PECS, lamh, AAC, ABA, positive behavioural strategies and the management of behaviours of concern would be a distinct advantage.
- The ability to work effectively with the class team, support staff, the wider school community, multi-disciplinary teams, parents/guardians etc., as well as a strong work ethic is essential,
- A strong knowledge of the Continuum of Support process as well as a passion for highly differentiated teaching is a requirement.
- Evidence of CPD in the area of Special Education is advantageous as well as displaying a commitment to ongoing CPD engagement.
