Clare Youth Service, a community-based charity, is the leading provider of Youthwork programmes and services to young people in the county. An integrated service, it offers a range of programmes and supports for young people throughout Clare including the Community Training Centre (CTC) which is based at its headquarters in Ennis. The CTC is funded through Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.
The CTC provides vocational training and education options to meet the needs of young people aged 16 to 21 years who have left mainstream education without adequate qualifications. Courses are designed to enhance the young person’s potential to develop new skills and achieve relevant certification necessary for progression into employment, further education or training.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic persons for the post of:
Community Training Centre Instructor
Part time – 27 hours per week.
This is a fixed term contract for one year
The instructor will be responsible for working in partnership with young people and delivering a range of modules within the LCA and QQI curricula, in particular Mathematics, English and Communications.
The successful candidate will have:
A formal qualification in the relevant subject matters. Minimum QQI Level 7
A recognised teaching qualification in training and education
Two years’ minimum experience of working with young people in a training environment
A young person-centred approach to the work allied with the creativity to design and deliver flexible training and support options in response to individual needs
The ability to work effectively with staff, young people, external partners, employers and others as appropriate to support a young person’s progression and development
An awareness and working knowledge of QQI and LCA awards and key state agencies who work with early school leavers
Responsibilities will include:
Designing, delivering, assessing and monitoring coursework to LCA/QQI standards
Care, support and supervision of young people
Assisting with the CTC team planning, development and implementation of CTC services within the Training Standards and Quality Assurance Systems
Supporting young people to develop Individual Learning and Progression Plans
Salary scale will be in line with the CTC instructor scales.
