A Bus Escort is required for pupils attending Emo National School. Applications can be made by email to emonationalschoolposts@gmail.com or by post to Chairperson Emo N.S., Emo,Portlaoise, Co. Laois. (Please mark envelop 'Bus Escort Application' if posting).
The job will be 10 hours per week approx. consisting of school drop off in mornings and collection in afternoons. The escort is responsible for the safety of the child on board the bus and will be required to provide pupil care needs including, but not limited to, assisting the child getting on and off the bus, securing appropriate seat belts, ensuring that pupils are received by a responsible person at the set down point.
An understanding of children with complex needs is important and the bus escort must be kind, patient and empathetic. Candidates will be expected to deal with parents and school staff in a professional way. They will need to communicate regarding pickups/drop offs, illnesses etc .
Appointment is subject to Garda Vetting requirements and verification of references. Please include at least two references and contact details with your CV and letter of application.
The current hourly rate of pay for bus escorts is set out by the Department of Education and Skills.
