Covid Learning and Support Scheme Teaching Hours

Loreto Education Trust is the Patron body responsible for Loreto Schools in Ireland. We serve 32 schools across the Primary, Voluntary Secondary and the Community School Sectors.

Currently, we are working with our schools to engage additional teachers to support a new Government programme, the Covid Learning and Support Scheme (CLASS).

The key focus of the Scheme is to provide additional teaching hours to schools to support their work in addressing learning loss among students arising from periods of school closure.

We are seeking teachers across a range of subjects, to provide additional teaching hours in all our Voluntary Secondary Schools (school details can be found at https://loretoeducationtrust.ie/loreto-schools/)

Please note:
• The Class Hours are a once off allocation of part-time hours.
• These additional hours must be provided during the normal school day.
• Teachers who are currently on part-time contracts and who may provide additional teaching hours up to a full teaching week of 22 hours. Such teachers will be paid at their existing personal rate of pay for any additional CLASS hours.
• Teachers who may be engaged by the school to provide additional part-time teaching hours in the same manner in which schools engage substitute teachers. Such teachers will be paid at the appropriate substitute hourly rate, appropriate to their qualification level, as set out in DES Circular 60/2020.
