St. Mary’s Primary School is a Catholic co-educational primary school located in Athlone Town Centre, County Westmeath. The post of Principal has become vacant due to retirement. This is an administrative non-teaching position.
Applicants must comply with the eligibility criteria for a principalship as set out in Circular 02/2002 from the Department of Education & Skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a staff of 33 teachers, 6.33 special needs assistants, secretary, caretaker and cleaners.
The successful candidate will demonstrate vision, management and leadership qualities and will enjoy working in a dynamic and challenging role in an environment of continuous learning, working in conjunction with the Board of Management, existing school team and external agencies. He / she will be committed to implementing the curriculum in accordance with the ethos of the school.
A qualification in school leadership and management is highly desirable.
