Additional Information:
Glenasmole National School is a welcoming, small rural primary school nestled in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. Located just minutes from Tallaght and approximately 10 minutes from the M50, our school offers a beautiful, peaceful setting while remaining easily accessible.
We are a co-educational, multigrade school with a dedicated, supportive staff and a wonderful, close-knit school community. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach, positive school culture and commitment to providing an inclusive, nurturing and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
The Board of Management invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and capable teacher who will work closely with the Principal to support the leadership, management and continued development of our school.
The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting a positive school culture, supporting high-quality teaching and learning, and contributing to the effective day-to-day organisation and development of the school.
The roles and responsibilities of the Deputy Principal will be aligned with the four domains of leadership and management as outlined in Circular 0044/2019 and Looking at Our School 2022:
Leading Teaching and Learning
Managing the Organisation
Leading School Development
Developing Leadership Capacity
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
Leadership skills and experience, including taking initiative, leading school activities or contributing to whole-school development. Previous experience in a formal leadership role would be advantageous.
Experience teaching in a small-school or multigrade setting, which would be particularly advantageous.
Strong curriculum knowledge, including an understanding of the redeveloped Primary School Curriculum and a commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
Experience in school planning and policy development, including contributing to the implementation and review of whole-school policies and initiatives.
A good understanding of special educational needs and inclusive education, with a commitment to supporting the diverse learning needs of all pupils.
Knowledge of school self-evaluation (SSE) and an interest in contributing to school improvement and development.
Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, the Board of Management and the wider school community.
A collaborative and supportive approach to leadership, with the ability to work closely with the Principal and contribute positively to a small staff team.
Initiative, sound professional judgement and a flexible, solution-focused approach to school leadership and management.
A commitment to continuous professional development, reflective practice and developing their own leadership capacity.
We welcome applications from teachers who are passionate about education, value teamwork and are eager to contribute to the leadership and continued development of our school
Applicants must be fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council.
