An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Scoil Chríost Rí, Rockfield, a co-educational school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Elphin & Achonry, invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal Teacher. This appointment will be made by open competition.
The Deputy Principal will assist the Principal in leading a dedicated and collaborative staff and will work closely with the B.O.M., parents and wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school.
The roles and responsibilities of the post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as outlined in Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Applicants must be fully registered (Route 1) with the Teaching Council and hold a Recognised Certificate to Teach Religious Education.
They must also demonstrate:
-A clear and ambitious vision for high quality teaching and learning
-A strong commitment to inclusive and child-centred education
-Proven Leadership and Management within a school setting
-Proven capacity in successfully leading people and a commitment to collaboration and the promotion of distributed leadership; examples may include leading the SET team, collaborating with Assistant Principal post holders, liaising with SNAs, Autism Class teachers, class teachers and SETs
-Demonstrated capacity, excellent knowledge and broad experience of teaching in the area of Special Educational Needs, including English as an Additional Language (EAL), with a view to fulfilling the manifold role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
-Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
-A commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school
Only candidates shortlisted for interview will be contacted. A minimum number of three applicants is required for the competition to proceed or the post shall be re-advertised.
