The Board of Management of Scoil Chaitríona Infants invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Deputy Principal.

Scoil Chaitríona Infants is a co-ed primary school. It caters for pupils from junior infants to first class. The staff comprises of a principal, 11 mainstream teachers, 1 HSCL, 4 SEN teachers and 6 SNAs.

Roles and Responsibilities for this Deputy Principal post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

Essential Criteria:
• Fully registered with the Teaching Council (Route 1).
• Minimum of 5 years of recognised teaching service, including at least 2 years in a recognised school within the Republic of Ireland.
• Certificate in Catholic Religious Education required

The following skills, knowledge, experience and competencies are desirable:
• A knowledge of, and commitment to supporting the Catholic Ethos of the school and the Mercy traditions.
• A commitment to work with and support the Principal, the Board of Management and the wider school community.
• Experience working in a DEIS school/ understanding of SSE in a DEIS school.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum Framework and the capacity to take a lead instructional role in the strategic planning for, and implementation of the Framework.
• Proficient communication and inter-personal skills, and a proven capacity in successfully leading and managing school teams.
• Evidence of, and commitment to continual professional development
• Ability to promote a culture of learning, innovation and creativity in the school.
• An ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in policy development, implementation and future planning as per the needs of the school.
• Flexibility to adapt to, and to cater for the diverse and ever-changing needs of the school.
