Additional Information:
We are seeking one bus escort for a pupil(s) in our Special Class for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The bus escort will accompany and support the student(s) in a minibus/ taxi car from their home to and from school. The bus escort must be available in the mornings and afternoons, five days per week for the school year.
The bus escort duties will include:
• Escorting the students safely to and from school
• Liaising with school staff, bus driver and parents/guardians when necessary
• Assisting the student to board and alight from transport safely and ensure that the student is received by the responsible adult at each set down point
• Ensuring the student is seated and wearing a safety belt for the duration of the journey
The successful candidate will require good communication skills. Some experience of caring for/working with children with additional needs is desirable also.
The bus escort should be available daily, in the morning and afternoon. The children will be arriving at school for or before 09:10 and will be going home at 15:00. The bus escort will be required to meet the bus driver each morning and afternoon at an agreed location.
Salary is €15.98 per hour processed monthly and only during term time. Escorts are not paid during holidays but receive holiday pay instead. The hours are split between morning and evening.
Appointment is subject to Garda Vetting requirements, occupational health check and verification of references.
