An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Stewarts School is a special school catering for students with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disability aged 5 -18 years. All students have complex needs and many students are autistic. Students engage in either the primary or post-primary curriculum, with the post-primary aged students engaging in Junior/Senior/Cycle Level 1 Programmes.
The school has been specifically developed to meet the complex learning needs of its community and features purpose-built classrooms, sensory areas, Home Economics and Music rooms, PE hall, library, dedicated meeting rooms, outdoor play areas and student canteen area.
The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with autistic students is desirable. Knowledge and experience of alternative communication systems and regulation strategies is an advantage. Training will be provided as needed.
The school participates in the Droichead Programme at primary and post-primary level. All applicants appropriately registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 (primary), Route 2 (post primary) and Route 4 (Other) are eligible for consideration.
