An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
SGNS is a rural primary school with a Catholic Ethos. We have 4 mixed Mainstream Classes, 2 Special Classes & 1.5 SETs.
Three positions are available. The hours are subject to change depending on enrolment and the needs of the school but a sample of the available hours are as follows:
1 x Full Day, 1 x Infant Day and 1 x .33 Day (which equates to 1 hour and 52 minutes a day).
OR
2 x Full Days and 1 x .17 Day (which equates to 58 minutes a day).
Candidates are required to have minimum qualifications as per DES guidelines. An additional qualification in additional/special needs care and/or education is advantageous. Relevant experience working in an Autism class, assisting children with medical needs and with intimate care needs is desirable.
The candidate must display a strong work ethic, flexibility and the initiative to work independently and as part of a team. High levels of communication, along with a willingness to engage in further training is extremely important. The successful candidate will be expected to respect the confidentiality of students at all times. Duties as per circular 0032/2026.
Applicants must satisfy all DE appointment criteria. The post is subject to review by the DE/NCSE. Appointments will be subject to current vetting requirements, occupational health screening and completion of the TUSLA Child Safeguarding training.
