St. Columba’s is a co-educational post primary school which and is opening a special class for pupils with autism. It is expected that all SNA staff can work in the autism classes and all SNA staff must be cleared by Medmark occupational health to be employed by the Board of Management.
This advertisement is for -
1 permanent SNA position (32 hours per week)
1 permanent SNA position (23 hours per week)
1 SNA post on a temporary contact (16 hours per week from 1st September to 18th December 2026)
SNA’s will be required for time before and after school starts as per standard SNA contract. School reopens for SNA staff for training and induction on 24th August 2026 and attendance is mandatory. The school day starts 09.05 am and the successful candidates must be available to be on site 15-20 minutes prior to this to liaise with staff, assist with preparations for the school day, and accompany students from the school carpark/from class/to/from school transport as per the
standard SNA contract. SNA’s are involved in extra-curricular activities in the school, class full day tours, activities as required etc. Certification in administration of first aid is desirable.

• Candidates are required to have qualifications as per Department of Education guidelines. - Appointment is subject to current vetting requirements, occupational health screening and satisfactory references.
• Department of Education circular 0032/2026 covers the role of the SNA and the requirements of the SNA contract and it is advised that all applicants read this carefully.
