An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St. Gabriel’s School is a special school for 64 students aged 4–18 years who present with a primary complex physical disability and/or complex medical needs. Many of our students have also been assessed as having moderate, severe, or profound learning disabilities.
Most classes are supported by a team consisting of one teacher and three Special Needs Assistants, reflecting the complex and diverse needs of our students.
Promoting student communication, participation, and access to the curriculum is a key priority for the school. We are committed to developing a Total Communication approach and to expanding the use of assistive technology to support teaching and learning.
Experience of teaching in a special school setting will be considered highly desirable. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, lead and support a team of SNAs, and effectively plan and manage programmes of support for students with complex needs.
St. Gabriel’s School is located adjacent to, and works closely with, the St. Gabriel’s Foundation, providing opportunities for strong collaboration with therapy and healthcare professionals.
