An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The Children’s Ark School is a special school funded and regulated by the Department of Education and Youth. This Hospital School is co-located with University Hospital Limerick and located in their Paediatric Unit.
Students at this school, aged 4-19 years, whose base schools are primary, post-primary and special, are children and adolescents who are managing medical and mental health conditions and who are receiving treatment in hospital.
Number of vacancies:
We have two permanent teaching vacancies:
1. Post primary Science teacher
2. Primary teacher
Start date: August 26th, 2026.
Canvassing will disqualify without exception.
Successful candidates shortlisted for interview will be contacted by email.
Please outline in your letter of application how your skills/ experiences would suit a hospital school setting.
Experience in a hospital setting, special school setting, special education teaching, multigrade teaching, working with an SNA, would be desirable.
The positions advertised are for Peripatetic Teachers (a teacher providing for education both in the classroom and at the bedside).
Please note that it is a special primary school and so the secondary school continues in June, until the final day of term.
Appointment is subject to current Garda Vetting Requirements and Occupational Health Screening.
