Additional Information:
The Board of Management of Dominican College, Galway, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Music teacher to join our team. Our school prides itself on fostering a positive and supportive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
This contract is for 15 hours per week. It will commence on 27th August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver high-quality Music lessons across all year groups in line with the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate curricula.
• Prepare students for coursework, practical examinations and performances where applicable.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress.
• Maintain effective classroom management and positive student relationships.
• Ensure effective departmental planning documentation.
• Support the school’s extracurricular music programme, including musicals, choirs, or other performances where appropriate.
• Engage positively with parents/guardians and the wider school community.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development and school activities as required.
Essential Requirements:
• Recognised teaching qualification with Music as a teaching subject.
• Current registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student wellbeing.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of curriculum requirements and assessment practices in post-primary education.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
• Experience preparing students for practical performance examinations.
• Ability to contribute to school choirs, ensembles, concerts or productions.
• Experience integrating technology into music teaching and learning.
• Willingness to contribute to the wider extracurricular life of the school.
• Experience of collaborative planning and participation in school initiatives.
• Additional subject(s) would be an advantage.
