Part-Time Caretaker Wanted
Ballyduff National School is currently seeking a reliable, flexible, and practical individual to join our team as a Part-Time School Caretaker.
About the Role
• Hours: 15 hours per week
(Typically 2pm–5pm Monday to Friday during school term, with flexible hours during school holidays i.e. days without pupils on site)
• Contract: One-year fixed term, with potential for renewal
• Start Date: 5th January.
• Hourly Rate: €15.66 subject to Department of Education funding.
Main Responsibilities Include
• General maintenance and minor repairs around the school
• Grounds keeping (e.g. weeding, hedge cutting, gardening)
• Floor care, including buffing and polishing
• Occasional painting and DIY tasks
• Opening/closing school for events, contractors and elections/polling.
• Key-holding and basic security tasks
• Assisting with school health & safety protocols
• Checking school and school grounds after weather events yellow, orange and red warnings.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• A strong sense of responsibility and initiative
• Basic DIY/maintenance skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Respect for the ethos and confidentiality of a school environment
• Flexibility to accommodate occasional out-of-hours access (e.g. school meetings, works)
• Basic IT Skills – be able to use Aladdin App.
Additional Info
• Full adherence to school safety and operational guidelines is required.
• All necessary tools and protective equipment will be provided.
• Garda Vetting will be required before appointment.
