POST DETAILS
Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Holy Cross Mercy School is under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry. It caters for children in sixteen mainstream classes, an Early Intervention Class, and three school-age Autism Classes.
Suitably qualified, registered and vetted teachers with a strong work ethic are invited to apply for the position of Special Education Teacher. Applicants will be expected to have an understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school and collaborate with all members of staff for the development of the school. Teachers are encouraged to share their own skills and talents to promote extra-curricular activities and the holistic development of the children.
It would be highly desirable for applicants to have experience of inclusive education and diversity in education, with an emphasis on experience of working with children who have additional educational needs and with children for whom English is an additional language.
Applicants must have the ability to multi-task, manage a varied timetable and be flexible.
The initial duties allocated to this post may be subject to change.
The Board of Management has also advertised for substitute-maternity leave position.
Interviews will be held at the same time for all posts. One application will be sufficient to apply for all posts. Please indicate clearly in your letter of application which post(s) you are applying for.
Appointment will be subject, but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references (A minimum of three referees and their contact details are required.)
• Evidence of a recognised certificate to teach Religious Education
• Current & continuing Teaching Council registration
• Current Garda Vetting requirements
• Occupational Health screening
*Closing date for applications is 2:00 p.m. on 11/08/2025
*Envelopes should be marked 'Teacher Application'.
