Additional Information:
Scoil Chaitríona, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal is a co-educational, DEIS Band 1 school under the patronage of the Catholic Diocese of Raphoe.
The school seeks to appoint a Teaching Principal beginning on 1 September 2025.
The present teaching staff comprises 4 Mainstream Class Teachers, 2 SET teachers, and 3 SNAs. We also have a temporary Language Support Teacher and a shared HSCL teacher.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong inter-personal skills that are required to lead and maintain a happy, active, and progressive school community. A commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos of the school is essential. Likewise, fostering links with the wider community is desirable.
As well as teaching all the core curriculum subjects, we also place a strong emphasis on sports, wellbeing, music & drama, and art. We believe in the holistic development of each child and giving each child a platform to develop their strengths and talents. We have introduced many excellent initiatives which we feel make our school unique.
The roles and responsibilities for the post are set out in the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in DOE Circular 0044/ 2019, Chapter 4.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
The successful candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of the primary curriculum, an understanding and experience of policy development, possess a range of teaching experiences and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing Professional Development.
A good understanding and knowledge of SEN and EAL is preferable.
Please submit three hard copies of the Standard Application Form, Letter of Application and all other requirements including TUSLA Children First, Garda Vetting and Teaching Council registration certificates.
Applications are by POST only and addressed for the attention of the Chairperson of the Board of Management from teachers who are fully registered with the Teaching Council. Please mark the envelope 'Principal Application'. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school in Ireland. The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, current vetting and occupational health requirements and the approval of the Patron.
