Additional Information:
Clonfert College invites applications from dedicated and compassionate individuals for the position of Special Needs Assistant (SNA) for the 2025/2026 academic year. This position is offered in line with the Department of Education guidelines and is subject to sanction by the NCSE and DES.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the care and educational needs of students with additional needs. They will work collaboratively as part of a dynamic and inclusive educational team to create a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Providing care assistance to students with physical and/or learning needs.
Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and school activities.
Assisting with mobility, communication, feeding, and toileting needs where necessary.
Promoting positive behaviour and supporting the emotional wellbeing of students.
Working under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or school management.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must have the required qualifications as per Department of Education circulars.
Garda Vetting clearance is essential prior to appointment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with young people.
Desirable Experience:
Experience working in a post-primary school setting.
Familiarity with students presenting with ASD, moderate learning difficulties, or complex care needs.
This is a full-time SNA position, subject to review by the NCSE. Appointment will be made in accordance with DE guidelines and relevant circulars.
