POST DETAILS
Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St. Anthony's is a Special School catering for pupils ages 4 - 18 years old. Pupils have Mild Intellectual or Multiple Disabilities which include Autism, ADHD, Physical Disabilities, Sensory Impairments, EBD, medical conditions, various syndromes and Challenging Behaviours.
The qualifications and conditions of service are as specified by the Department of Education.
One post is a Fixed Term post for the school year 2025-2026 covering for a SNA on
career-break and the other is a job share post for the year. Please state what post the applicant wishes to apply for, one or both.
It would be desirable that the successful candidate would have completed an
appropriate Special Needs Assistant Course and have the necessary skills and interest in working with pupils aged 4-18 years old who have complex profiles and challenging needs.
Applicants with current training in First Aid and Manual/Patient Handling, experience in managing care conditions of children with epilepsy, diabetes or asthma, assisting pupils with personal hygiene/toileting including use of specialised equipment such as hoists, and training or use of ISL/Lamh, PECs or communication aids with children will have an advantage.
Supplementary assignment panel rules do not apply to the filling of substitute or cover vacancies for career breaks.
Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening,
completion of the online TUSLA Child Safeguarding Training course and satisfactory references.
All SNA posts are subject to DES/NCSE review annually.
