St. Laurence O'Toole's Specialist School is a second-level School for students between the ages of 12 and 16 who are at risk. The nature of our students' Special Educational needs are social, emotional and behavioural. Our students present having had complex adverse childhood experiences which are reflected in their behaviour at school, behaviour which can be challenging.

Students follow the Junior Cycle curriculum and sit exams at our school.
Experience with Junior Cycle is desireable, but not essential. We welcome all apllicant with a genuine interest in or experience working with the client group.

Our work is underpinned by Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (excluding the use of restraint) and Trauma Responsive principles.

In addition to teachers and SNAs, we have a full time youth worker at the school and a Bean an Ti who prepares home made meals for students and staff.

We are looking for a class teacher to join our collaborative team. Each class has five students, one SNA and one Teacher. The position has arisen due to a retirement and is fixed term until the end of June as Permanent Positions cannot be advertised after the Halloween mid-term break.
