Kilmacanogue National School is a Catholic, Co-educational school located close to Bray in North Wicklow. Kilmacanogue National School has provided a quality education to the children of the area since 1960.
The present teaching staff comprises currently of 1 Admin Principal, 10 Class Teachers, 3 SET, 1 EAL, 1 ASD Teacher and 5 SNAs.
Our aim is to develop each child’s personal, spiritual and educational potential in a respectful, friendly, safe and inclusive teaching and learning environment in collaboration with parents, guardians and the wider community.
Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1 - Primary), be fully Garda vetted and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school in Ireland.
The roles and responsibilities of the post of Deputy Principal Teacher are determined by the four domains of Leadership and Management as set out in chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning 2. Managing the Organisation 3. Leading School Development and 4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
In particular, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Provide/ Share evidence of relevant experience in providing education to children in a mainstream setting as well as demonstrate an appropriate understanding of and appreciation for a mainstream setting at primary level.
An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience.
Understanding and knowledge of the requirements associated with the provision of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity. Evidence of ongoing experience in the provision of education to children in an ASD class and the facilitation of their educational provision.
Evidence of management and communication skills as well as evidence of the ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider community.
Evidence of the leadership skills associated with all aspects of school life with particular reference to school self-evaluation and curricular development.
Evidence of commitment to relevant and ongoing continuing professional development.
