Crannóg Nua Special School provides on-site education to the young people committed under a special care order to the Crannóg Nua Special Care Unit. The school is located on a campus with a residential centre where students are housed. Students are aged between ten and eighteen years. The school provides a broad spectrum of educational curricula and programmes, catering for Primary, Post Primary and QQI through the 10 level National Framework of Qualifications. The school is under the patronage of the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board.

The Board provides mainstream educational programmes to schools and colleges as well as providing a wide range of adult and community programmes.
