Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1 - Primary), be fully Garda vetted and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school in Ireland. The statutory functions of the Deputy Principal are set out in Sections 22 and 23 of the Education Act 1998.

The roles and responsibilities of the post of Deputy Principal Teacher are determined by the four domains of Leadership and Management as set out in chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019.

2 Managing the Organisation
3 Leading School Development
4 Developing Leadership Capacity

In line with the above domains and working closely with the Principal, the duties attached to the role involve SEN co-ordination, whole school curricular development, policy development, day-to-day management of resources and personnel and long-term strategic planning for the future development of the school.

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
• An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos. Applicants are required to hold a valid certificate to teach religion.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience.
• An understanding and knowledge of Special Education Needs, as well as a commitment to inclusion and diversity in education.
• Excellent people management and communication skills and demonstrate an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider community.
• Proven leadership skills and a commitment to school self-evaluation
• A commitment to and evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
