An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Cloontagh National School under the Patronage of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, Most Reverend Paul Connell, is inviting applications for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a permanent teaching position. The appointment will be made under open competition.

Cloontagh National School is a Catholic School. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to promote the Catholic ethos of the school.

The school comprises of two mainstream class teachers, one shared SET and one SNA.

Specific roles and responsibilities of this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as outlined in circular 0044/2019 as follows:
1. Leading, Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

In addition, the following knowledge, competencies and skills are desirable:
Evidence of an understanding of DEIS and its implementation.
A clear understanding of and a commitment to the ethos of a Catholic Primary school.
A clear understanding and knowledge of special education, inclusive education and diversity in education.
Proven ability to work as part of a team and to foster leadership in others.
Skills in the area of policy development and implementation and long-term strategic planning for the development of the school.
A commitment to ongoing professional development.
The ability to foster the involvement of parents within the school community as well as a commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Excellent communication skills.

All applicants must be fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and have 3 years recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
