Monasteroris National School is a co-educational primary school under the Patronage of the Church of Ireland. It caters for children from Junior Infants to 6th class. This post is for a Teaching Principal in a multigrade setting. This is a permanent post.

The role and responsibilities of the post are determined by the four domains of leadership and management as set out in Circular 0044/2019.

2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading the school development
4. Developing leadership capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
• A clear understanding of and commitment to the ethos of the
school
• An in-depth knowledge of the curriculum
• Previous teaching experience across different classes. Previous
experience teaching in a multi-grade setting would be beneficial.
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant
professional development
• Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead teaching and
learning
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Proven leadership skills
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and
evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives
• Previous experience in policy formulation and implementation
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education
The appointment will also be subject to confirmation of qualifications, Garda Vetting requirements (DES Circular 31/2016) and Occupational Health Screening.
