Scoil Cholmáin Tuairíní is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Diocese of Galway.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to continue to lead and
strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school.
Applicants must be fully registered with the Teaching Council and must have a minimum of five
years teaching experience.
The roles and responsibilities of the post are determined by the four domains of leadership and
management as set out in Circular 0044/2019.
1. Leading teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
-Excellent communication skills
-Proven ability to work as a member of a team
-Proven leadership skills with evidential experience of managing people
-An in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
-Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
-Experience in prioritising,planning and organising workload
-Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead teaching and learning
-Experience in the development,implementation and evaluation of innovative school-based
initiatives
-Previous experience in policy development
-A high level of understanding and knowledge of diversity and inclusion in education
-Excellent ICT skills
This is an open competition. All applications must be received by email no later than 5p.m. on
May 27th, 2022.

Scoil Cholmain Tuairíní is located in the Gaeltacht. The school has not entered the Scéim Aitheantais but there is a long and strong
tradition of using and nurturing the Irish language in the school. It is desirable that the successful candidate
would support this tradition.
