An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. Christopher's Special School caters for pupils aged 4-18 with a Moderate General Learning Disability, pupils with a Severe/Profound General Learning Disability and pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder within the Moderate to Severe range. Many pupils have additional complex needs and/or multiple disabilities and medical needs. Experience teaching pupils within the above categories of needs in a special school setting is an advantage. The successful applicant should demonstrate experience and competency in the use of augmentative communication and assistive teaching technologies for pupils within the above categories of needs. Experience working with pupils who display behaviours that challenge is highly desirable.
