Additional Information:
Goatstown ETSS opened in August 2020. Its permanent home will be on the Irish Glass Bottle Recreation Site in Goatstown. The school will have up to four special classes in its permanent home.
We are looking for an Autism Support class teacher to lead the development and set-up of an outstanding support structure for children enrolled in the AS class.
They will work with all staff in promoting the benefits of an autism friendly school to all students.
The successful candidate will be a team player who supports teachers, the ASN Coordinator, support staff and others in creating a vibrant learning environment. Linking with outside agencies is an important aspect of the role.
The successful candidate will play a lead role in class set-up and programme design tailored to the needs of individual children.
Staff already in the school will be timetabled to provide additional support in areas such as numeracy and Mathematics support, Art and PE. The ASD class teacher will have an allocation of time for planning and for meetings with parents, staff and outside agencies.
The ideal candidate will have:
An additional qualification in an area related to the education of learners with autism/ autistic learners.
AND/OR
Experience of working in a class for learners with autism with a record of CPD in the area.
AND/OR
An enthusiasm about working in this area and a willingness to undertake training and additional CPD.
