Post as Deputy Director for the Secondary Cycle of the European School, Varese, Italy
Expressions of interest are invited from eligible serving teachers in the European Schools and from teachers serving in a recognised post-primary school in Ireland (or teachers on secondment or career break from such a position) for the post of Deputy Director for the Secondary Cycle of the European School, Varese, Italy.
The appointment procedure and related requirements of candidates are outlined in Document 2009-D-422-5 Implementing the Regulations for the Appointment of and Evaluation of Directors and Deputy Directors of the European Schools. This can be downloaded from the website of the Department of Education www.education.ie or the European Schools’ website www.eursc.eu
Applicants are directed to the terms of Circular 0029/2018 which is available on the Department’s website. Teachers receive a salary paid by the Department of Education, pensionable under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. A European salary paid by the European Schools supplements this. Details of remuneration and allowances for teachers are available on the European Schools’ website www.eursc.eu
Applicants for the post of Deputy Director for the Secondary Cycle must have knowledge of a
minimum of three languages, including at least two of the three vehicular languages, German, English and French. Knowledge of languages and, in particular, the language of the school’s host country (Italian) will be considered during the selection process.

Shortlisted applicants will be called for interview in April. A maximum of two candidates, who have been successful at national level, will be nominated for interview at European level.
