Description:
Overview
The Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) are partnering with Camara Education Ireland (CEI) to deliver a numeracy education programme for children living in socio-economically disadvantaged areas of Dublin.
The aim of this exciting programme and partnership is to provide long term numeracy support and have a measurable impact over a multi-year project. An online numeracy platform, called Maths Whizz, will be used to deliver the programme in one school and two homework clubs commencing in 2018.
The STEM Project Officer will join the Schools and Community Programme team in Camara Education Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
The role is multifaceted and will have responsibility across the following areas:
Training & Facilitation
● Train teachers how to use a maths platform to improve numeracy attainment of children in the classroom
● Train and support youth work staff to co-facilitate maths sessions in homework clubs
● Deliver weekly maths sessions in homework clubs in Dublin with children
● Train corporate volunteers to co-facilitate sessions in after-school and school settings.
Marketing & Communication
● Communicate with school and organisation leaders to help drive implementation of the project
● Support project partners to provide content for marketing and communications
● Event management of end of year celebratory showcase
Project Management
● Plan, coordinate, report and execute against a set of defined project deliverables and budget
● Identify needs and supports required by Homework Clubs and School to successfully implement the project
● Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders and engage corporate volunteers in programme activities
● Quality monitoring of the project, including training sessions with teachers, youth workers and volunteers, and the maths sessions with the children
● Other responsibilities deemed necessary to the success of the project

Person Specification:
● 2+ years experience in train-the-trainer course delivery
● Experience working with children
● Experience in teaching maths or delivering a numeracy related activity in an educational setting
● Demonstrable interest in how technology can enhance numeracy learning outcomes for children and increase their engagement in school
● Strong relationship building skills and confidence to initiate contact with multiple stakeholders (children, youth workers, teachers, principals, youth organisation managers, project partners, funders)
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Ability to travel to the UK for 2-3 days training on commencement of the role
Desirable
● Experience of Homework Clubs, youth sector and/or formal education
● Maths related undergraduate degree/background or JEB qualification
● Undergraduate or Masters degree in educational technology or a related field
● Passionate about working directly with children living in socio-economically disadvantaged areas to improve their access to high quality educational opportunities
