Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
This position is 0.5 of a standard post with initial duties in a Mainstream setting.
A high level of flexibility is required as the successful applicant may be redeployed to an ASD class or to cover absences in an ASD class at short notice.
Duties include but are not limited to supporting pupils with a variety of care needs including toileting, ASD, pupils with challenging behaviours and supporting pupils with communication difficulties.
Candidates must be a willing team member, enthusiastic, display a strong work ethic, be flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the school, contribute to our team, working on their own initiative, work as part of a team, work under the direction of the teacher/principal and demonstrate confidentiality for the pupils at all times.
- Previous experience of working in an ASD class or Special School setting desirable
- Previous experience of working with children with complex needs and challenging behaviours desirable
- Previous experience of working with children with toileting needs desirable
- Applicants must have the qualifications set out in the Department of Education and Skills Circular 44/2014.
- Additional qualifications in ASD/challenging behaviours/completion of National Training Programme SNAs Inclusive School Support are highly desirable
Applicants who are deemed to be members of the SNA Supplementary Panel with supplementary panel rights, must furnish a certified copy of a completed Panel Form (PF1) with their application.
Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and completion of Children First online training.
