Scoil Mhuire is a co-educational, vertical primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Clogher. It is expected that applicants will have a commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school.
This post is for the position of Acting Principal with Classroom Teaching duties. Scoil Mhuire has 5 classroom teachers [including the teaching Principal] and one full-time SET position, supplemented by additional SET hours within a clustered arrangement.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as outlined in Circular 0044/2019:
Domain One: Leading Teaching and Learning
Domain Two: Managing the organisation
Domain Three: Leading school development
Domain Four: Developing leadership capacity.
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
- An in-depth knowledge of the Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
- Proven leadership skills
- A high level of understanding of special educational needs and of inclusion and diversity in education
- Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school based initiatives
- Evidence of CPD
- Experience in policy development
- Knowledge and capacity to lead and successfully manage the administration of a school
