An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Drogheda ABACAS Special School is an evidence based special school for children with autism and complex needs. The school caters for children from 4yrs – 18yrs. We have 2 permanent & a number of career break/leave vacancies to fill from this August 2022.

Candidates must have significant experience working with pupils with Autism and complex needs within a special school setting. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience in the management of challenging behaviour and the promotion of positive behaviour strategies. Experience in the use of the following strategies TEACCH, knowledge of Lámh, PECS and positive behaviour strategies is beneficial. Duties are as outlined by Department of Education Circulars and include supporting students with challenging behaviours. Successful candidate must hold a minimum 3 grade D's in the Junior Cert or equivalent. A QQI level 5/6 in Special Needs Assisting is desirable
