POST DETAILS

Additional Information:
Coláiste Éamann Rís is a progressive and growing co-educational school in Cork City

Previously known as Deerpark CBS, the school became co-educational in September 2019 – this year also marked changes to our name, our crest and school uniform (Our school is co-educational in first and second year, with third to sixth years being all boys).

Coláiste Éamann Rís is part of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, and as such we are dedicated to promoting the Edmund Rice Ethos.

We recruit teachers who are passionate about their subject, who are truly student-centred, who are hard-working and who want to be part of a team that empowers students both in and out of the classroom.

The successful candidate will be someone who has extensive experience working in an ASD care setting and who has demonstrated leadership and innovation in SEN provision.

As a DEIS school, candidates should also have a passion for working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds and an understanding of the challenge they may face. This successful candidate will play a key role in the continued development of the school's DEIS plan. At the same time, our teachers must also have the ability to engage and inspire very academic and high achieving students (according to the CAO 2019 our school is the most improved school in Cork for third level progression and second in Ireland). Learning and teaching are at the core of what we do – we are very proud of our innovative teaching practices (we have 58 minutes classes, excellent IT facilities etc.)

Coláiste Éamann Rís offers a wide curriculum and our programmes include: Junior Cycle and the Junior Cycle Schools Programme, Transition Year Programme, Traditional Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. We run two special classes for students with ASD. Our school community is also supported by a Home School Community Liaison Officer and the Schools Completion Programme.

We have a very strong social and print media presence that will help candidates to learn more about our school community.
The ability to teach additional subjects and ability to contribute to extra-curricular activities (as above) will be an advantage.

Candidates should submit the below information via email to opportunities@cercork.ie by 12pm May 29th, 2020. The email subject should be the position you are applying for.
Please include as one attachment:

• Covering letter outlining the reasons you want to teach at Coláiste Éamann Rís.
• A copy of your CV including at least two referees (name, role, contact no.)(at least one referee should know you professionally)
Additional attachments if available but not necessary:
• Letter from the teaching council stating the subjects you are registered to teach
• Referees (Written)

Any appointment will be subject to registration with the Teaching Council and Garda vetting. In compliance with DES regulations short-listing may apply. Due to the volume of applications that we receive only short-listed candidates will be contacted. All appointments are subject to the approval of The Director of Redeployment and to sanction by the DES. Coláiste Éamann Rís is an equal opportunities employer.
