Description:
Background to the role:
The Jesuits in Ireland are in the process of establishing a Company Limited by Guarantee (the “Company”) to act as Patron to and to provide administration services for the current network of schools and colleges in the Republic. We are seeking to appoint a Director of Education/CEO to lead this operation.
The role will have responsibilities in three main areas:
• CEO /Director of the company: Management of the legal entity to ensure all regulatory requirements are met to include those of the Companies Office, Charities Regulator and Revenue. The CEO shall execute decisions and implement policies and other instructions given by the Board of Directors and to provide reporting to the Board.
• Education Delegate: Liaise with school Principals and Boards of Management to promote and support the Vision of Jesuit Education – as expressed in core documents - in Irish Jesuit Schools. The incoming Director of Education will work alongside the existing Education Delegate for a handover period between now and August 2021.
• Peter Kenney Project: In the first year s/he will attend to the formation needs of people in the Jesuit ‘works’ under the aegis of the Peter Kenney Project, a group that works to foster the Jesuit Ethos within the broader Ignatian Community.

Required Experience and Education
• Experience in education, preferably in a secondary level environment, is essential.
• The ideal candidate will possibly be a current or former Head or Deputy Head, or from another area within Education, e.g. finance.
• An authentic interest in, and enthusiasm for, the Jesuit message and values.
• A university degree and/or professional qualification essential, preferably with senior management experience in education, education-related activity or business, in the public, community or voluntary sectors, not-for-profit or similar organisations would be an advantage.
