Overview

The Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) are partnering with Camara Education Ireland (CEI) to deliver a numeracy education programme for children living in socio-economically disadvantaged areas of Dublin.

The aim of this exciting programme and partnership is to provide long term numeracy support and have a measurable impact over a multi-year project. An online numeracy platform, called Maths Whizz, will be used to deliver the programme in one school and two homework clubs commencing in 2018.

The Role
The STEM Project Officer will join the Schools and Community Programme team in Camara Education Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

The role will have responsibility across the following areas:

-Training & Facilitation
Train teachers in one school how to use a Maths Whizz platform to improve numeracy attainment of children in the classroom
Train and support youth work staff to support maths sessions in homework clubs
Deliver weekly maths sessions using the Maths Whizz platform in two homework clubs to help children improve their numeracy in an after school setting
Train corporate volunteers to support maths sessions in school and homework clubs

-Marketing & Communication
Communicate with school and organisation leaders to help drive implementation of the project
Support project partners to provide content for marketing and communications
Event management of end-of-year celebratory showcase

-Project Management
Plan, coordinate, report and execute against a set of defined project deliverables and budget
Identify any supports needed for homework clubs and school to successfully implement the project

-Stakeholder Engagement
Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders and engage corporate volunteers in project activities
Quality monitoring of the project with teachers, youth workers and volunteers and young people
Other responsibilities deemed necessary to the success of the project

Requirements
-Facilitation experience with students and adults and an interest in numeracy/maths.
-Passionate about working directly with children living in socio-economically disadvantaged areas to improve their access to high quality educational opportunities
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills

Desirable
-Experience of homework clubs and/or youth sector and/or formal education
-Confidence to build good relationships with multiple stakeholders (children, youth workers, teachers, principals, youth organisation managers, project partners, funders)
-Maths related undergraduate degree/background or JEB qualification or an Undergraduate / Masters degree in education, youth work or a related field
