ISL Communication Support
Description:
Communication assistant with qualification in Irish Sign Language, level 8, required for Greystones Educate Together N.S, to provide for the learning/ communication needs of one profoundly deaf student and to engage in work relating to developing the capacity of the school's staff and children in communicating in ISL. Must be Garda Vetted.
The person appointed will provided communication support to facilitate the student's integration into class/school, to ensure access to the curriculum and to communicate effectively with staff and children.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will assist the teacher in preparing appropriate strategies and in translating subject matter and will be able to adapt learning resources and assist the student in becoming familiar with routines and technology.
The appointed person will have the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff.
