An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Stepping Stones Special School caters for pupils with a diagnosis of Autism and Complex Needs from 4-18 years of age. Stepping Stones is committed to supporting people with Autism and their families to enhancing the quality of their lives and achieving their personal goals. Stepping Stones wishes to recruit one temporary special class teacher with effect from the 26th of June 2017. Stepping Stones Special School is designated to meet the educational needs of 30 children who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. The successful candidate ideally should have: a minimum of 1 year teaching experience in a special school, preferably with pupils with autism, experience of teaching children with an intellectual disability, relevant knowledge and understanding of different evidence based methodologies and approaches used to teach children with ASD, have good interpersonal communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and to have good organisational classroom skills.
Applicants should be registered as primary teachers with the Teaching Council and must be sure they are fully compliant with the new vetting procedures through the Teaching Council.
