An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Drogheda ABACAS Special School caters for children with autism & complex needs between the ages of 3 -18. We are currently looking for Special Needs Assistants to cover 3 Career Break positions for the 2018/219 school year. Candidates must hold qualifications as per Department of Education & Skills and valid certificates in First Aid, Manual Handling. Candidates must be able to provide evidence of substantial experience working with children with autism in a special school setting or similar. Duties include working with students of all ages, feeding, nappy changing, toileting, assisting students in the swimming pool, community outings and supporting students while on community outings & supporting students with challenging behaviours. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, respect the ethos of the school, and be able to work as part of a team and work under the direction of the classroom teacher.
