Grinds Club Volunteer
Second Level
Commitment : Minimum 6 months – Academic term runs from September to June
Hours : 90 minutes per week 7.00pm to 8.30pm Monday or Thursday.
Offering Grinds to Second Level Students - Academic assistance with specific subjects on the leaving and junior certificate curriculum.
Ozanam House offers academic assistance in a warm and welcoming environment. We also help students develop good study habits as well as introducing them to some of the third level options.
All volunteers with the Grinds Clubs are further supported by the Grinds Club Coordinator who will coordinate the programme and support the volunteers in their work with our students.
Training
Induction training
Initial and ongoing training provided by Coordinator
Skills required:
Good knowledge and understanding of one or two leaving and Junior cert subjects
Teacher training an advantage but not necessary
Good communication and people skills
Understanding of community development
